Our Commitment
Veteran Force is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone.
Measures We Have Taken
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
- ARIA landmarks to identify page regions (banner, navigation, main, footer)
- Skip-to-content link for keyboard navigation
- Descriptive alt text on all images
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios meeting WCAG AA standards
- Keyboard-accessible interactive elements including forms, dialogs, and navigation
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
- Form inputs with associated labels
- Responsive design that works across devices and zoom levels up to 200%
- Language attribute set to British English (
lang="en-GB")
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- Some third-party content (e.g. embedded videos) may not be fully accessible
- The digital signature pad on the grant agreement page requires mouse or touch input
- Some PDF exports may not be fully screen-reader compatible
